Gray whale puts on show in Tomales Bay

A gray whale has been putting on a bit of a show for kayakers and others recently in Marin County's Tomales Bay. Whales are rarely seen in the waterway, but a number of people have seen the whale, estimated to be about 25 feet long, diving and splashing about over the past three weeks.
With this time of year being the peak of the migration season for whales, experts believe the animal might have come into the bay in search of food.
John Dell'Osso, chief of interpretation for the Point Reyes National Seashore, told the Marin Independent Journal that he believes the whale must have "veered off" into the waterway.
Despite its charm, officials are advising people to give the whale plenty of space. The National Marine Sanctuary says people should not come with 300 feet of the whale.
